DRIVE AND DINE to Fort Jackson
FIRST; We'll meet at BURNT CHURCH DISTILLERY in Bluffton (exact time TBA around 10am) to drive to the PIRATES HOUSE in Savannah for a grand SOUTHERN LUNCH BUFFET (including fried chicken, fried fish, mashed & gravy, collards, iced tea, etc.).
We need to finish by 1:00pm to drive about 10 minutes up the road for a PRIVATE GUIDED TOUR of FORT JACKSON in Savannah. The tour begins at a 1:30PM.
At Fort Jackson we'll have a private guided tour to hear about the history of Savannah beginning with the Native Americans living in the area, Savannah’s role in the American Revolution, the importance of the technological development such as the cotton gin and railroad and, finally, the impact of the Civil War on Savannah and Sherman's March to the Sea. Cost for members including lunch $45. Don’t miss this one – It should be fun!
