DRIVE AND DINE RETURNS!!
Join fellow LOMDS members for a trip into the past; when we go on FRIDAY NOV 14 to the Georgia State Railroad Museum (chsgeorgia.com) in Savannah for a curated group tour.
The enormous facility is the site of the original Georgia Railroad Repair Shops built in 1851-1855!
Complete with a working locomotive turntable, plus a variety of antique steam locomotives, and steam powered machinery for maintaining this once grand, railroad.
We will have a 1 hour curated tour and a 1/2-hour ride in a diesel engine passenger car with a demonstration of the turntable. The tour will introduce us to the old world of Steam power and how the railroads were at the forefront of the industrial revolution in this Country.
Following our tour, we'll “highball” just 1/2 mile up the road, to Mellow Mushroom, where we will gather for a 'lunch on your own' (order and pay for your preference). Parking is available at the Parking garage noted in the directions which you'll receive upon sign up.
